Finding and promoting exceptional talents is the passion of Steinway & Sons. Since 1937 the Steinway Piano Competition has offered children and young people a platform that enjoys an international reputation and has already opened many doors for young pianists.

Participation in the preliminary examination takes place through timely registration and submission of a video in which the participant performs two pieces on the piano. After registration, each participant will receive a link to upload the video.

Registration deadline: Wed, 31 July 2019

Video-Upload until Sun, 15 September 2019

After viewing the videos, the jury will decide by 20 October 2019 which participants have been selected as finalists for the Steinway Piano Competition on 9 November 2019 in Hamburg's Laeiszhalle.

Tickets for the finals

Advance booking: From 1 October 2019 exclusively via the Theaterkasse Schumacher, Kleine Johannisstraße 4, 20457 Hamburg, Tel., 040-343044. Remaining tickets: On the day of the competition concert at the box office of the Laeiszhalle Hamburg.

Tickets / Prices

7,- Euro, 10,- Euro, 13,- Euro and 15,- Euro plus 10 % advance booking fee. On 9 November 2019 pupils and students will receive a 50% discount on the regular ticket price on non-reserved tickets at the box office. Children participating in the competition concert and their parents have free admission. Each participant who has not been admitted to the final competition will receive three free tickets for the final on 9 November 2019 upon request.
