Spirio | r is a Steinway grand piano. For over 165 years, hobby musicians and professional pianists have valued its varied means of expression, its warmth and depth and its incomparable touch.
Spiro’s technical components are professionally installed during the regular production process. This way we can guarantee maximum precision so that the Spirio technology can develop its full potential. The Spirio system does not affect the acoustic grand: even the patented, contact-free hammer sensor strip has been integrated without interfering with the mechanics. All components have been almost invisibly integrated – the beauty of the Steinway grand piano remains unchanged.
High-resolution recording
SPIRIO | r enables pianists to record and listen to their playing in first-class high-resolution quality – authentically reproducing every nuance and the power and passion of their playing.
Simple, intuitive controls allow the saving and sharing of user-defined recordings in various file formats:

World-class music library
Thousands of videos and recordings by current Steinway artists can be easily accessed via the touchscreen of the supplied iPad. The library is expanded and automatically updated in the Spirio app every month. In addition to today’s greatest artists, it also includes historic recordings by Steinway immortals such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Gould, Arthur Rubenstein, Art Tatum and many more.
High-resolution editing
The SPIRIO editor in the SPIRIO app offers the world’s only advanced, iPad-based high-resolution editing functions for SPIRIO files, which allows users to edit every nuance of their SPIRIO recordings. The SPIRIO’s editing functions include:
• Changing the speed of notes (dynamic)
• Changing the length of notes (start and end time)
• Correcting wrong notes (delete or replace)
• Changing pedal data (sustaining and soft)
• Deleting or adding time
• Changing the volume
• Adding, deleting and transposing notes
• Changing the length of notes
